wheelchair accessible. Security - the seclusion may make it uncomfortable for some, although the trail is well used for walking
dogs, strolling, and access to the steps leading down to the beach.
* If you come to a large upended tree to the right of the main trail you have gone too far.

Committee: Mary Booth, Gretchen Lee & Pat Fredericks
Location 1--Native Plant Garden at Buck Lake Park
Winner!
You park at the lot in front of the Community Center and
walk across the grass field (alongside the baseball field)
to the Native Plant Garden. There is a wood split-rail
fence along one side. The Garden is just being planted
this winter and spring, but you will walk through a Birch
Grove toward the center of the garden. Just beyond the
Grove, on your right is a small grouping of three alder
trees. The bench would be set in front of the trees facing
south, looking into the Garden. The site is open and

Location 2--Top of Hill Portion of Point No Point Park
Access is from Gust Halvor road, then Thor road to the parking area. Park and walk
through the woodlands a little over 1/3 of a mile along a level trail. There is a small side
trail to your left, about 30 feet long.* The bench site is at the end of this side trail. It is like
a hidden little view point through the trees. You look out over the lower wetlands area (of
Pt. No Point Park) and out to the open water. The feeling is of a cozy, secluded spot, very
charming.
Concerns: The distance ( just over 1/3 mile ) may be difficult for some. The trail is

Location 3--Hansville Cemetery
You enter the Cemetery driveway and proceed up the slop toward the back. Near the top,
on the right hand side just inside the boundary fence is a group of alder trees. It is a
level, grassy area with a nice overlook of the Cemetery and surrounding trees and fields.
It feels open and comfortable. You can drive right to the bench site and park or park
nearby.
Concerns: There are two gates that need opening and closing as you enter and leave
the Cemetery. Also, some individuals may be uncomfortable in a Cemetery and may
prefer a park or garden setting for our memorial bench site.

would feel comfortable. The Garden Club has contributed money to the Birch Grove in memory of Elaine Bertran, so this would
compliment the memorial bench.
Concerns: Walking across the open field may not be easy for some. Wheelchair access from the parking lot to the open grass
field is only possible from the main trail to Buck Lake since there are no other curb cuts. This could be corrected in the future.
